International Certificates Database
Client & context
An international school of design, fashion and media based in Italy, with numerous partner institutions across South America where a range of courses are delivered. Graduates receive a special certificate on completing all course modules.
Objective
To devise a centralized database system for managing certificates awarded to students at international partner institutions — unifying enrollments, course and module assignments, and progress tracking through each academic period until graduation.
Technological choice
We opted for a web application to ensure ease of access for both the client's staff in Italy and coordinators at partner campuses. The solution was built on a LAMP environment hosted on a custom-configured Linux Ubuntu server on AWS, chosen for its robustness and scalability.
Design & implementation
The architecture reflects the complexity of the information flow. Administrators create partners, campuses, programs, modules and users. Coordinators manage course programs, student enrollment via Excel uploads, class and workgroup formation, and the recording of academic outcomes — all inside a workspace designed through meticulous UX/UI planning.
Outcome
A single source of truth replaced fragmented spreadsheets, letting each campus operate independently while the school retained full oversight and reporting across the entire network.
